Andrew and Hollan met at Watermark Church in Dallas, TX, in January 2024. Every Tuesday night, Watermark holds a service for young adults called The Porch. Though thousands of people in their 20s show up to The Porch each week, God worked in mysterious ways that day to bring Andrew and Hollan together. It was Hollan’s first time attending, and was with her friend, Caroline, who had read about The Porch online and thought they should give it a try. Andrew believes it was only his second or third time, and he was with some of his friends as well.
As divine intervention would have it, Andrew and Hollan seated themselves next to one another in the pew amidst the huge crowd in the sanctuary, and the two clicked when the pastor asked the congregation to shake hands with those around them. After a brief conversation following the service, Andrew told Hollan that he would be in Fort Worth—where she was still in school at Texas Christian University—for business the next day, and that he would love to take her out to dinner. Hollan said yes to the cute church boy, and their first date at Torchy’s Tacos led to a drive around Fort Worth and a walk through TCU, listening to music, and talking for hours.
Less than a week later, Andrew and Hollan made things official, and “I love you” was said for the first time just two days after that. When you know, you know.
Following one of the first church services they attended as a couple, Song of Solomon 2:8 became central to their relationship: “Listen! My beloved! Look! Here he comes, leaping across the mountains, bounding over the hills.” Andrew and Hollan live out the anticipation and desire to be with—and to show up for—the person they love most: one another. Like King Solomon and his wife in the verse, they find joy not only in being together but also in the act of approaching each other with love and intention.
While working opposite schedules—Hollan on night shift and Andrew during the day—living halfway across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex from each other, and juggling life and love, they remained committed. On August 31, 2025, they made a promise to go "leaps and bounds" for one another forever when they got engaged in Dayton, Ohio, Andrew's hometown. They are so very excited to celebrate their union on July 18, 2026, with all of their favorite people in one place!
